Southbroom Infants' School is delighted to announce that Joanne Jardim has been appointed the school’s new principal. Joanne is currently deputy headteacher at By Brook Valley C of E Primary School, where she has been in the role for four successful years. After a transition period, Joanne will join Southbroom Infants' School in January.
Replacing former principal Caroline Jackson, who spent a number of successful years in the role, Mrs Jardim will use her passion and experience to bring added stability to our school.
Mrs Jardim started her teaching career at Wanborough Primary School in Swindon before joining By Brook Valley C of E Primary School in 2012. After excelling in the role of assistant head, Joanne was promoted to deputy head in 2015, and later spent two terms as acting head.
Upon being appointed principal, Mrs Jardim said: “I am delighted and honoured to be appointed as the new principal at Southbroom Infants’ School and I am very keen to get to know parents and carers, as well as the pupils and staff. As an experienced deputy headteacher, I know that a successful and happy school is built on collaboration.”
“I am passionate about ensuring that we provide consistently high educational standards across the curriculum for all learners, and am keen to embrace and continue the care the school gives to its pupils. It is an exciting time for the school as we begin a new chapter in its history. I look forward to working with all stakeholders.”
Mrs Jardim’s knowledge and expertise will strengthen our leadership team as we build upon the progress we have made in recent months.
Southbroom Infants' School joined The White Horse Federation multi-academy trust in 2017. The trust is responsible for 32 schools across Swindon, Wiltshire, Gloucester, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire.
Simon Cowley, the federation’s regional director for Wiltshire, said: “I am delighted to introduce Joanne as the new principal of Southbroom Infants’ School. Her passion, experience, and commitment to teaching made her the outstanding candidate for the role, and we are thrilled that she will be taking up the post in January.”
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Caroline Jackson for her hard work and dedication to the role of principal at Southbroom. We are excited to build on Caroline’s success, and I am looking forward to working with Joanne as we continue to further improve outcomes for everyone at the school.”
Joanne’s appointment at Southbroom Infants' will begin in January. As Mrs Jardim transitions from her role at By Brook Valley to her new appointment as principal of Southbroom Infants' School, she will enter consultation with staff and parents to learn more about the challenges facing our school and its roadmap for improvement.
Once she is in post, Mrs Jardim will communicate her vision and strategy for improvement at our school in a statement addressed to staff, parents, and the local press.
