In September, we start a new school year with a new principal. Mrs Edwards is an ambitious educator with a wealth of experience working in school improvement, especially in the early years of primary school.
For this school news article, we spoke to Mrs Edwards about her values as an educator, and her plans for the school going forward.
“I want Southbroom Infants’ School to be a place where everyone develops a lifelong love of learning and is aspirational to get the most out of every day.”
Joining Mrs Edwards will be a number of new, experienced teaching hires.
“As well as helping deliver the best possible education for every child, infusing experience into our team also helps our more junior staff develop and reach their own aspirations.
At Southbroom, we are fortunate to have an excellent new Nursery facility, and as part of plans for improvement at the school, our nursery provision is also being restructured with morning and afternoon sessions and a new progressive curriculum.
“With our nursery, we have the benefit of being able to get our early years children ready for primary school in a familiar environment. High-quality learning experiences at Southbroom should start in the first year at nursery and continue through until year 2, so that every child is continually building upon prior knowledge.”
“With new experienced staff being hired, and our plans for the nursery, we’ve got a lot to be excited about at Southbroom Infants’ School.”
“I want every child to come through the school gate excited to learn. To Create this kind of atmosphere everyone has to work together, and I can’t wait to meet parents and carers in the new year!”
