Choosing a school for your child is a big decision and we would encourage you to talk to and visit any schools you are considering. If you'd like your child to go to Southbroom Infants School please get in touch with us. We are keen to show people round and answer any questions you may have.
Wiltshire Council's admissions team is responsible for the allocation of school places at Southbroom Infants School.
Admissions Limit The school has a planned admissions limit of 90 for each year group. This means we can have up to three classes in each year group. There are usually about 26 pupils in each class, with the maximum number per class being 30.
Entry in the Reception Year Children usually start school in the September following their fourth birthday. You will need to apply for a school place by the January before they are due to start school.
We start all reception children on mornings for a couple of weeks whilst they settle and learn our routines. Most children then come to school on a full-time basis but when children are not yet ready for full-time education we are happy for them to come on a part-time basis until ready.
Entry in Other Year Groups If you want your child to join us in a year group other than the reception year you will need to complete a transfer form. You can get one from us, from your child's existing school (if he/she is currently in a Wiltshire School) or from the Wiltshire Council school admissions team's web pages. The completed form should be returned to Wiltshire Council. Please tell both us and your child's existing school that you are considering a move.
To Visit Our School We would encourage you to visit our school and talk to us when choosing a school for your child. You can come to our Open Morning in the autumn term or you can make an appointment to look round. Or you can do both, if you like. Please contact the school office to make an appointment.
