We believe that Every Child Matters and learning at our school is fun and exciting, challenging and rewarding. We offer a warm and caring environment which enables children to feel safe and secure as they grow, learn and develop.
The first years in school are the most important and can shape children's attitudes to learning and school.
We hope by the time the children leave Southbroom Infants they will have developed a good sense of self worth and a love of learning so that they are happy and motivated as they continue on their journey through education.
The school consists of 8 well resourced classrooms. All teaching spaces are equipped with interactive whiteboards. The reception classes share an enclosed outdoor learning area that they use all year round. The school also has a large playground, wildlife area and grassed field with a variety of play equipment.
As well as an after school club for childcare(open 3-6 pm) we offer a range of out of school learning opportunities. We have a weekly football club and also hold 'taster' activities of about 6 weeks throughout the year; these include Tag Rugby, Multi Sports Skills, Tennis, Gardening, Tri Golf, Writing and Christmas Crafts, as well as Lantern Making and Carnival Workshops.
We have very close links to Southbroom St James Academy (our local junior school); throughout the year children visit for a variety of activities eg joint Maths Game Morning, Sports Day and Assemblies. During July the Yr 2 children start a transition project which is completed at the beginning of Yr 3. This enables learning to be continuous and gives our pupils lots of confidence.
Children are at the heart of everything we do.
We ensure that children, families, staff and governors feel valued and proud of our school.
We have high expectations of children and staff.
We provide a stimulating learning environment outside the classroom as well as inside.
